Overview

Sata Misaki Park is a tourist spot where magnificent nature and history harmonize, located at the southernmost tip of Kyushu's mainland. The park features an observation deck offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. On a clear day, you can even see distant islands like Kaimon-dake, Yakushima, and Tanegashima. The view from the observation deck is truly breathtaking, offering a feeling of liberation. The park also boasts a well-maintained walking path lush with subtropical plants, perfect for a relaxing stroll. Along the path, you'll find numerous plants that evoke a tropical atmosphere, such as cycads, Bismarck palms, and sea daffodils, providing beautiful scenery throughout the year. Sata Misaki Park also houses the Sata Misaki Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in Japan. Completed in 1871, this historic lighthouse exudes an air of grandeur and serves as a symbol of the park. While it once played a crucial role in ensuring maritime safety, it now welcomes many tourists as a sightseeing spot. The view from the lighthouse is nothing short of spectacular, giving you a sense of the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. Sata Misaki Park is also home to Misaki Shrine, known as a shrine for matchmaking. This shrine has been worshipped by locals for generations and is said to bless those seeking romantic success or marital harmony. Sata Misaki Park is a highly recommended tourist spot where you can fully enjoy nature and history.
