Experience the majestic beauty of nature, including the deep valley shrouded in primeval forest and the 60-meter-high Torogawa Fudo Falls. Step into the serene world of one of Japan's 100 best hidden spots.
Torogawa Valley is located in Kamicho, Toyooka-ku, Mikata-gun, Hyogo Prefecture, within the Hyonoyama, Nagiyama, and Koyama Quasi-National Park. The scenery of a deep forest covered in primeval forest and a clear stream truly lives up to the name of a hidden gem. The valley's name comes from the river that flows through it. Torogawa was once called "Torokawa," but in the Meiji era, it was changed to "Torogawa," and later to "Torogawa." The highlight of Torogawa Valley is undoubtedly the 60-meter-high Torogawa Fudo Falls. This waterfall was once called "Torogawa Falls," but because of the Fudo Myoo enshrined at nearby Torogawa Inari Shrine, it came to be called "Torogawa Fudo Falls." The roar and spray of the falls are truly awe-inspiring. Along the valley trail leading from Torogawa Inari Shrine to Torogawa Falls, thirteen stone Buddhist statues, including Fudo Myoo, are enshrined, allowing visitors to sense history in the tranquil setting. These stone statues were erected by local people in the Edo period, each with its own story. Torogawa Valley is a truly hidden gem where nature and history harmonize. It's a place where you can spend a relaxing time becoming one with nature in a peaceful atmosphere.
