Uratomi Coast is a ria-type coast sculpted over countless years by the relentless waves of the Sea of Japan. Its breathtaking natural beauty and diverse topography are truly captivating. Designated a Place of Scenic Beauty and a Natural Monument, it's also lauded as one of Japan's 100 Best Views, one of Japan's 100 Best White Sand and Pine Groves, and one of Japan's 100 Best Beaches, testament to its exceptional beauty that has charmed countless visitors. Numerous islands and rocks dot the coastline; the dramatic cliffs, unusual rock formations, and natural arches, particularly in the western part of the coast, are truly awe-inspiring. Among the highlights are Nasunejima Island, standing 60 meters high and boasting a 400-meter circumference, and the mystical Ryujin Cave. These are iconic landmarks of Uratomi Coast. The eastern part of the coast features a gently sloping sandy beach, bustling as a popular swimming spot in the summer. About 40 minutes by car from the Sanyo JCT (junction) on the Chugoku Expressway to the Tottori IC (interchange) on the Tottori Expressway. About 1 hour and 50 minutes from Sanyo. About 30 minutes by car from JR Tottori Station. About 15 minutes by car from Tottori Sand Dunes. Take the Nicco Bus "Iwai Onsen-bound" from JR Tottori Station and get off at Iwami Station. From Iwami Station, take the town-operated bus "Tago-bound" and get off at the Uratomi Coast entrance. It's a short walk from there. Show route
