Iizuna Lake

Overview

Iizuna Lake is a beautiful lake located at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture. Nestled at the foot of Mount Iizuna (Iinagayama), it's surrounded by lush nature. Well-maintained walking paths around the lake are perfect for hiking and cycling. Fishing is also popular, especially crucian carp fishing. Spring brings a breathtaking display of cherry blossoms, painting the lake surface in pink. Summer sees the lake bustling as a popular summer resort, with opportunities for barbecues and camping. Autumn showcases a vibrant tapestry of autumn leaves, coloring the lake in reds and yellows. Winter brings a serene snow-covered landscape. Iizuna Lake has long been cherished by the local community. It is said that in the past, the lakeshore was lined with hot spring inns, creating a lively atmosphere. Today, several pensions and minshuku (small guesthouses) can be found around the lake.
