Overview
Tankagō is a peach orchard in the southern part of Iiyama-machi, Nagano Prefecture, featuring approximately 900 peach trees. Established in 1968 in the Hiraide district, it offers a spectacular display of blooming peach blossoms and breathtaking views of the Hokushin Go-Gaku mountains in the spring.
The name Tankagō originates from a visit by the painter Saburoske Okada in the spring of 1933. Witnessing the peach blossoms in full bloom, he exclaimed, "It's like a crimson haze."
While the number of peach trees has decreased in recent years due to a decline in local orchard farming, Tankagō continues to captivate visitors. The peach blossoms in April and the winter landscape are particularly beautiful, making it a popular spot for photography.
Tankagō is also known for its peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Surrounded by idyllic rice paddies, it offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's the perfect destination for those seeking a quiet moment surrounded by nature.
