Ōminato Shrine is known as a protector of seafarers, offering prayers for the safe passage of ships calling at Mikuni Port and other harbors. For centuries, it has been a focal point of faith for countless fishermen and sailors.
The Yasushima fishing village lies adjacent to Oshima Island. It has a long history of ama (female free-diving) fishing.
