From Echizen Railway Katsuyama-Eiheiji Line Katsuyama Station, take the Katsuyama City community bus Hiraizumi-dera Line or the Hiraizumi-dera/Inose reservation bus, or the Katsuyama City sightseeing bus "Dynagon" Katsuyama Station-Hiraizumi-dera Line to the "Hiraizumi-dera Shrine-mae" stop.
From Echizen Ono Station on the Echizen Ono Line, take the Keifuku Bus Route 46 Katsuyama/Ono Line to "Owatari", then transfer to the Katsuyama City community bus Hiraizumi-dera Line or the Hiraizumi-dera/Inose reservation bus to the "Hiraizumi-dera Shrine-mae" stop. Reservations are required for the Hiraizumi-dera Line and Hiraizumi-dera/Inose reservation bus that pass through the "Owatari" bus stop. There is no admission fee to wander the temple grounds. Many visit for prayer, sightseeing, or to experience its power spot reputation. The Haku-san Heizenji Historical Exploration Museum Mahoroba is also free of charge. Only the old Genjo-in Garden requires a 50-yen entrance fee.
The treasure hall and the haiden (offering hall) with its ema (votive pictures) are usually closed to the public for preservation purposes. The main hall's grand opening is held once every 33 years; the next will be in 2025 (Reiwa 7).
