Overview

Echizen Cape is a cape located in Echizen-cho, Niyu-gun, Fukui Prefecture, facing the Sea of Japan. The steep slopes of the Niyu mountain range meet the Sea of Japan directly, forming a dramatic landscape where conglomerate rock sea cliffs reaching 100 meters high extend for several kilometers. The magnificent scenery of sheer cliffs and unique rock formations is truly awe-inspiring, showcasing the raw power of nature. The Echizen Cape coastline is dotted with various-sized unique rock formations, each possessing its own distinctive character. Among the most famous is the "Yobidori-mon" sea cave, formed by wave erosion and named for its resemblance to a bird spreading its wings. Passing through this cave offers a profound sense of the vastness of the Sea of Japan. Echizen Cape is also famous as a daffodil hotspot. From December to February, vast daffodil fields centered around Echizen Cape Daffodil Land spread out, and the sea of white blossoms is breathtakingly beautiful, making one forget the winter chill. Echizen Cape Lighthouse stands atop the cape at an elevation of 133 meters, offering panoramic views of the surrounding scenery. From the lighthouse, you can enjoy a stunning vista of the expansive Sea of Japan and the mountains beyond. The lighthouse, first lit in 1940, continues to ensure safe navigation. Echizen Cape is blessed with abundant nature and offers diverse activities such as swimming, fishing, cycling, and hiking, all allowing for full immersion in nature. Nearby attractions include the Echizen Crab Museum and the Echizen Daffodil Village Park, ensuring a fulfilling day. Echizen Cape is an unforgettable tourist destination where you can fully experience the strength and beauty of nature.
