Access
Access Eiheiji Temple by bus from Echizen Railway Katsuyama-Eiheiji Line Eiheiji-guchi Station. Take the Keifuku Bus routes 86, 87 (Ashidara Maruo-ka Eiheiji Line), or 88 (Eiheiji Line) bound for "Eiheiji." Get off at the final stop, "Eiheiji" (Ikkyu-mae), and walk to the temple gate. Alternatively, take the Keifuku Bus "Eiheiji Liner" (highway bus) from Fukui Station East Exit (Platform 1) to the final stop, "Eiheiji" (Ikkyu-mae), and walk to the temple gate. From Fukui Station East Exit (Platform 2), you can also take the Fukui Kotsu "Asakura-Eiheiji Direct Bus" (seasonal operation from April 29, 2023, to March 31, 2024). Get off at the final stop, "Eiheiji" (Ikkyu-mae), and walk to the temple gate. Show route

Please remove your shoes before entering. The temple grounds are extensive and include many stairs, so comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended. A variety of programs are available, including zazen (seated meditation) and shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) experiences. Reservations are required for some programs, so please check in advance. Parking is available for a fee.
