The Former Ikumagawa Residence is an Edo-era Machiya house in Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Presumed to have been built in the latter half of the 17th century, it served as the residence of the Ikumagawa family, who held the prestigious position of official purveyors of medicinal herbs to the Numata Domain. The Ikumagawa family, for generations, operated a medicinal herb business, playing a crucial role within the domain. The Former Ikumagawa Residence stands as a priceless record of life in that era.
