Experience a mystical underground world in this cave. The magnificent 30m-high underground waterfall is breathtaking!
Otaki Cave, located in Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, is a approximately 2000m-long cave, with about 700m open to the public. Discovered in 1969 and opened to tourists in 1970, the cave boasts a stunning and mystical world filled with various stalactites, stalagmites, and cave corals of all sizes. Highlights include the "Tenjo-kai no Shonyuiseki-gun" (Celestial World Stalactite Group), where stalactites seem to pour down from the ceiling, and the enormous stone pillar, "Ten no Hashira" (Pillar of Heaven). At the deepest point lies a breathtaking approximately 30m-high underground waterfall, which gives the cave its name. The roar of the waterfall is powerful and truly evokes the strength of nature. Otaki Cave is enjoyable year-round, offering a cool escape in summer and a warm respite in winter. A wooden cable car operates within the cave, transporting visitors to the cave entrance. The area around the information center offers restaurants, souvenir shops, and even a fishing pond, ensuring a full day of enjoyment. Otaki Cave provides a precious opportunity to experience the mysteries of nature. We highly recommend a visit!
