Overview

Enakyo Gorge, located in Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture, is a valley situated at the headwaters of the Ena River, a tributary of the Kiso River. Known as the "Aogawa" (Blue River) for its crystal-clear waters, the river flows from the southern foot of Mount Ontake, dotted with various waterfalls, from the Fudo Falls to the Takadaru Falls, and unique rock formations. Enjoy the diverse landscapes. The area retains its untouched primeval forest, offering stunning seasonal views. Spring brings a vibrant display of various flowers, including rhododendrons, yamazakura (mountain cherry blossoms), azaleas, and yamabuki (Japanese kerria), making it a famous flower viewing spot. Autumn showcases breathtaking foliage, earning it a place among the "Hida-Mino Autumn Leaves 33 Selections." The contrast of the emerald green river and the fiery autumn leaves is truly spectacular! Hiking trails and a suspension bridge add to the charm, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in nature. Enakyo Gorge offers various accommodations, including minshuku (traditional Japanese inns), bungalows, campsites, and barbecue facilities. Enjoy stream fishing as well. Selected as one of "Japan's 100 Best Forests for Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing)", one of Gifu Prefecture's 50 best waters, and one of the "Hida-Mino Autumn Leaves 33 Selections," Enakyo Gorge is brimming with natural wonders. It's a beloved spot for many, offering a chance to refresh both body and mind amidst majestic nature.
