Kagamiyama Observation Deck is a popular sightseeing spot located on the 283.56-meter summit of Mount Kagami in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture. It offers stunning views of Karatsu Bay and Niji-no-Matsubara. Karatsu Bay is a beautiful ria coast facing the Sea of Japan, dotted with numerous islands of varying sizes. Niji-no-Matsubara, located at the entrance to Karatsu Bay, is a scenic spot known for its approximately 1km-long pine grove and is designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty. From the Kagamiyama Observation Deck, you can overlook Karatsu Bay and Niji-no-Matsubara. On a clear day, you might even be able to see Iki Island in Nagasaki Prefecture in the distance. The deck also offers views of Karatsu Castle, the city, and farmlands, allowing you to experience the grandeur of Karatsu's nature and history. Mount Kagami is said to be named after Empress Jingu, who is believed to have enshrined a mirror on the summit while praying for victory in the Three Kingdoms campaign.
