Overview

Nanzoin Temple is one of the largest temples in Fukuoka Prefecture, belonging to the Shingon-shu Buzan-ha sect. The "Daibutsuden" (Great Buddha Hall), built during the Kamakura period, is designated as an Important Cultural Property and houses an 11-meter-tall wooden seated Buddha statue. This imposing Buddha exudes an overwhelming presence. The 30-meter-tall five-story pagoda, completed in 1973, serves as the temple's symbol and is visible from afar. Buddhist relics are enshrined within the pagoda, attracting numerous visitors. Beyond the Great Buddha Hall and the pagoda, Nanzoin houses various Buddhist statues and paintings, making it ideal for those interested in Buddhist art. The temple grounds also boast beautiful gardens, where flowers bloom in vibrant colors throughout the year. While slightly outside Fukuoka City's center, Nanzoin is easily accessible and has ample parking, making it convenient for those traveling by car. Known as a power spot, Nanzoin attracts many worshippers. Experience the grandeur and beauty of Nanzoin for yourself!
