Parking is available just before the stairs leading up to the waterfall. The road there is wide enough. Even from a few steps away, you can see a waterfall resembling Angel Falls. Now, the base of the waterfall is surrounded by trees and isn't a rocky cliff, but...While there are quite a few steps to get to a good viewing spot, it's a pleasant climb if you take your time, admiring the irises (shaga) blooming along the way. You'll likely feel a light mist from the waterfall on your face. After a rainy day, the view should be even more breathtaking. It's said that Kukai (Kobo Daishi) also practiced asceticism here. You can see a large hornet's nest on the cliff to the left of the waterfall.
Kanjo-ga-taki Waterfall is located in Kamikatsu-cho, Tokushima Prefecture, on the Sekigawa River. It boasts a breathtaking drop of approximately 80 meters, a truly awe-inspiring sight. A legend tells of Kukai performing water asceticism here, making it a site of reverence for centuries. While the water volume isn't massive, the 80-meter drop creates a thunderous roar as the water crashes against the rocks, sending spray into the air. On sunny days, the mist reflects sunlight to create a rainbow, a phenomenon known as "Fudo no Raikou," (the arrival of Fudo Myoo). Descending the stairs to the waterfall pool reveals a shrine to Fudo Myoo, a deity believed to protect against disaster and misfortune, attracting many worshippers. Kanjo-ga-taki Waterfall is a sacred place where abundant nature, history, and faith converge. Well-maintained walking paths around the area allow visitors to admire the falls from various perspectives. Take a leisurely stroll and experience the grandeur and mystery of nature.
