Overview

Kakurinji Temple is a Shingon sect temple located in Yoshinogawa City, Tokushima Prefecture. It is believed to have been founded by Kobo Daishi, Kūkai, and is renowned as the 55th temple on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage. The principal image of worship is Yakushi Nyorai (the Healing Buddha), making it one of the most historically significant temples on the pilgrimage route. The temple grounds are filled with highlights, including the Tahoto Pagoda and Niomon gate, both designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan, as well as a bell tower.
