The daffodil blooming season is typically from late December to early February.
Nada Kuroiwa Narcissus Garden, located in Minamiawaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, is known as one of Japan's three major narcissus fields.
Approximately 5 million Nihon Suisen (Japanese daffodils) grow naturally on a approximately 7-hectare slope stretching from Mount Yurugiwa to the Kii Channel. From late December to early February each year, the entire area is covered in a sea of narcissus blossoms.
The history of the Narcissus Garden is long and storied, said to have begun in the Edo period when local fishermen planted narcissus bulbs that washed up on the coast onto the mountain.
This eventually grew into a large colony, and since the 1950s, local residents have taken the lead in its maintenance and preservation.
An observation deck is located on the rooftop of the Narcissus Garden, offering panoramic views.
From the observation deck, you can witness a dazzling sight of lemon-yellow narcissus flowers reflected in the cobalt blue sea.
It's truly a healing space where you can enjoy the grandeur of nature and the beauty of the narcissus while enveloped in their sweet fragrance.
Every year in late January, a "Narcissus Festival" is held, featuring illuminated narcissus displays and stage events.
