Kamiba Falls, located in Kamiba, Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, is a majestic waterfall boasting one of the largest drops in Western Japan, at an impressive 110 meters. Designated a Place of Scenic Beauty by the Japanese government, it's also included in the list of 'Japan's Top 100 Views' and 'Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls,' truly representing the epitome of Japanese natural beauty. The surrounding area is designated as Okayama Prefectural Natural Park, adding to its charm with its abundant natural environment. Kamiba Falls plunges down a limestone cliff, a tributary of the Asahi River known as the Kamiba River. Its sheer power and scale are awe-inspiring. Spring brings vibrant greenery, summer offers refreshing breezes, autumn paints the mountains in a vibrant tapestry of autumn colors, and winter transforms the landscape into a snowy wonderland. A well-maintained trail leads to the base of the falls, making it easy to enjoy the natural beauty. The walk from the parking lot takes about 5 minutes, and along the trail, you can also find other waterfalls, such as Tamadare Falls and Tototo Falls. Furthermore, wild Japanese macaques (Nihonzaru) live in the area, and you might be lucky enough to spot them. Kamiba Falls has been cherished by locals for generations. Historical records indicate that sacred rituals were once performed near the falls. It also gained fame as a filming location for the movie "Yatsuhaka Mura."
