Takidanji Temple is a Shingon sect temple of the Chizan school located in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture. Originating as a hermitage built by Rui-Ken in Sakiura in 1377 (during the Eiga era), it was relocated to its current location in 1381 (during the Eitoku era). Gaining the faith of local lords, it grew to encompass many sub-temples. Over its long history, Takidanji Temple has cultivated numerous cultural treasures. It houses a national treasure—a gilt bronze inlaid with a floral design—along with numerous Important Cultural Properties, including buildings and Buddhist statues. These cultural assets are invaluable testaments to the temple's history and culture. The temple's mountain and water garden, designated a Place of Scenic Beauty, was created in the early Edo period and covers an area of 1700 square meters. This garden, showcasing the beauty of each season, offers a tranquil space that soothes the soul. Why not take a stroll through this lush garden and find a moment of peace and unity with nature?
