A park designed by sculptor Isamu Noguchi, where nature and art meet. The breathtaking scenery is a masterpiece of geometric shapes and vast greenery.
Moerenuma Park is a comprehensive park planned as a key location in the "Circular Green Belt Plan," an initiative to surround Sapporo's urban area with parks and green spaces. Construction began in 1982 and it grand opened in 2005. The basic design was created by sculptor Isamu Noguchi, with the concept of creating "the entire park as a single sculptural work." Geometrically shaped facilities are neatly arranged across the vast grounds, offering a landscape where nature and art blend seamlessly. It also boasts sports facilities such as tennis courts, baseball fields, and a track and field stadium. In winter, you can enjoy winter sports like snowshoeing and skiing or sledding on Moereyama Hill. Furthermore, the park is environmentally conscious, having been developed on a former garbage disposal site and incorporating a cooling system that utilizes renewable energy. Moerenuma Park is a relaxing place for Sapporo residents and a captivating spot for tourists. Come visit and experience its unique landscape where nature and art harmoniously intertwine.
