Overview

Byobuiwa Koen is a park in Sonogi Village, Uda District, Nara Prefecture, centered around Byobuiwa, a national natural monument. Located on the west side of Mount Kabuto (940m), Byobuiwa, meaning 'folding screen rock,' truly lives up to its name, with a south-facing cliff face resembling a giant screen, measuring 2 kilometers wide and 200 meters high. Formed approximately 15 million years ago by volcanic activity, its grandeur is awe-inspiring. In spring, mountain cherry blossoms burst into bloom, and the fresh greenery creates a scene straight out of a painting. Autumn paints the entire mountain in a vibrant tapestry of fall colors, creating a breathtaking contrast with Byobuiwa. At the foot of Byobuiwa, a spacious park offers opportunities for hiking and mountain climbing. Trails cater to various skill levels, allowing you to enjoy nature while taking in the majesty of Byobuiwa. Byobuiwa Koen is a highly recommended sightseeing spot offering beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons. Surrounded by magnificent nature, it's a perfect place to refresh your mind and body.
