Overview

Shiwa Shiroyama Park, located in Shiwa-machi, Shiwa-gun, Iwate Prefecture, is a park where history and nature harmoniously coexist. Situated on a gently rising hill near the town center, the park boasts approximately 2,000 cherry blossom trees that create a breathtaking spectacle of color when in full bloom, transforming the hill into a stunning pink landscape. The cherry blossoms are typically at their peak from late April to early May, attracting numerous visitors during the cherry blossom viewing season. Within the park are the remains of Takasui-ji Castle, offering a glimpse into the medieval past. This castle was built by the Shiba clan during the Muromachi period, and remnants of its stone walls and earthen ramparts still remain. Visitors can also enjoy leisurely strolls or jogs on the park's well-maintained walking paths, or even experience the outdoors at the park's campground. The campground is nestled in nature, and on clear nights, visitors can gaze upon a breathtaking starlit sky. Furthermore, the park features a song monument dedicated to Nomura Kodō, the author of "Zenigata Heiji." Nomura Kodō was a novelist from Shiwa-machi, and the monument reflects his passion for his work. Shiwa Shiroyama Park is a highly recommended tourist spot where you can immerse yourself in both history and nature. Be sure to visit!
