Ishizuchi Shrine Chugu Jijo-sha is located on the mountainside of Mount Ishizuchi, the highest peak in the Shikoku Mountains. Mount Ishizuchi has been revered as a sacred site for Shugendo since ancient times. Jijo-sha is one of the four shrines of Ishizuchi Shrine and serves as the gateway to Mount Ishizuchi, attracting many climbers and worshippers. Nestled in lush greenery on the mountainside, Jijo-sha boasts stunning panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea. The shrine houses a giant statue of Ishizuchi Gongen, the deity representing Mount Ishizuchi. Behind Jijo-sha lies the 'Goshintai-ishi,' a sacred stone believed to house the mountain's spirit. Many worshippers pray here, offering their wishes to Mount Ishizuchi and the Goshintai-ishi. A well-maintained trail leads from Jijo-sha to the summit of Mount Ishizuchi.
