Ishizuchi Shrine Oku-miya Summit Shrine is located at the summit of Mount Ishizuchi (1982m) in Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture. It's a sacred site that has been a focus of faith since ancient times and, situated at the peak of the highest mountain in western Japan, is known as a place where one can feel a special energy. Mount Ishizuchi has been revered as a sacred site of Shugendo (mountain ascetic practice) since ancient times. Said to have been opened by En no Gyoja, many ascetics have climbed the rugged mountain paths and practiced rigorous training throughout history. Because the summit shrine is located at the very peak of Mount Ishizuchi, it has been a focus of faith as the dwelling place of the mountain's spirit. Furthermore, the view from the summit shrine is absolutely breathtaking! You can enjoy a panoramic view of the Shikoku mountain range and the Seto Inland Sea. Access to Ishizuchi Shrine Oku-miya Summit Shrine is only possible by hiking. It requires a roughly 3-hour hike from Jojisha, 2.5 hours from Dokojaya Yobaiden, or 5 to 6 hours from Menokakei. For those who are not confident in their physical ability, we recommend using the ropeway from Jojisha. Ishizuchi Shrine Oku-miya Summit Shrine is a special place accessible only by climbing. To reach the summit shrine of Ishizuchi Shrine Oku-miya, you can hike for approximately 3 hours from Jojisha, 2.5 hours from Dokojaya Yobaiden, or 5 to 6 hours from Menokakei. You can access Jojisha via the Ishizuchi Mountain Ropeway. You can access Dokojaya Yobaiden via the Ishizuchi Skyline. Show route

The entrance fee to the summit shrine is 500 yen.

From May 1st to November 3rd, a priest resides at the summit shrine, conducting morning and evening prayers. A mountain lodge run by the shrine, "Chojo Sanso," is available for overnight stays by hikers from early May to November 3rd. While a well-maintained trail leads to the summit shrine, it's a challenging mountain path. Please ensure you have proper mountaineering equipment and prioritize safety during your climb.
