Overview
The Minamikushiyama Tanabata Observatory is located in Minamikushiyama-cho, Unzen-shi, Nagasaki-ken. While not at a particularly high elevation, it offers magnificent views of the sprawling rice terraces and the contrasting blue sea, allowing you to fully appreciate the grandeur of nature. In spring, the terraces are filled with water, creating a mirror-like reflection that is truly spectacular. Autumn paints the terraces in a golden hue, offering a different kind of beauty. The observatory area also features walking paths and rest areas, providing a place to relax and savor the scenery.
A short walk from the observatory leads to a small shrine nestled amongst the rice terraces. This shrine is cherished by the locals as the guardian deity of the terraces, surrounded by lush trees and exuding a tranquil atmosphere.
The Minamikushiyama Tanabata Observatory is a highly recommended spot to experience both nature and culture. Be sure to visit!
