The Kyu-Ikeda Family Garden is located in Takari, Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. It was created by the Ikeda family, who served as Takari village head from the mid-Meiji period to before World War II and were known as one of Tohoku's three largest landowners. This beautiful garden, the first in Akita Prefecture to be designated a Place of Scenic Beauty, harmoniously blends history and nature.
The garden features a large 4-meter-tall snow-viewing lantern and a Western-style mansion, surrounded by seasonal plants that create a completely different landscape each season. Spring brings a profusion of cherry blossoms and vibrant greenery. Summer offers cool shade under lush foliage. Autumn paints the garden in fiery reds and yellows, while winter transforms it into a serene wonderland of snow.
The garden includes ponds and streams whose sounds create a calming atmosphere. Well-maintained walking paths allow for a leisurely stroll.
The Kyu-Ikeda Family Garden offers a glimpse into a truly quintessential Japanese landscape, where history and nature harmoniously coexist. Visit and enjoy the stunning scenery throughout the year.
