A lush garden in the heart of the city. Enjoy the flowers of each season.
Fujita Tei Ato Park is a city park in Miyakojima-ku, Osaka. It's located on the former site of the residence of Densaburo Fujita, a prominent figure in Osaka's financial world. Densaburo Fujita established Fujita Gumi in the Meiji era, expanding into mining, agriculture, and other ventures, becoming a leading entrepreneur in the Kansai region. He was also known for his expertise in the tea ceremony and as a renowned art collector. In 1893, Densaburo Fujita built his residence on the current site of Fujita Tei Ato Park. The residence was a luxurious blend of Japanese and Western architecture, and the expansive grounds included a magnificent Japanese garden. This garden, a stroll-type garden utilizing the natural topography, featured waterfalls, ponds, and artificial hills, offering beautiful scenery throughout the year. However, the residence was destroyed in the Osaka air raids during World War II. Afterward, the site was divided and used for various purposes, such as a wedding hall and an art museum. A portion of the garden, however, was acquired by the city of Osaka and, in 2003, was redeveloped as the "Former Fujita Residence Garden." It's now integrated into Sakura-no-miya Park. Fujita Tei Ato Park is a vibrant green oasis in the city, where you can enjoy the flowers of each season. Cherry blossoms abound in spring, and the autumn foliage is stunning, making it a worthwhile destination year-round. As the site of the former residence of Densaburo Fujita, it also offers a palpable sense of history. It's the perfect place for a leisurely stroll away from the city's hustle and bustle.
