Sumaura Park is a vast park spanning approximately 103.8 hectares in Suma Ward, Kobe City. Managed and operated by the Kobe City government, it's open 24 hours a day with free admission. Sumaura Park boasts a rich history, originally part of the Ichinoya Imperial Forest managed by the Imperial Household Agency. This area is famous as the site of the Ichinotani Battle of the Genpei War. Within the park, you'll find historical sites such as the Atsumorizuka mound, a designated tangible cultural property of Kobe City. Following the marriage of Emperor Showa, the Ichinoya Imperial Forest and the pine forest were presented to Kobe City, leading to the park's opening in 1935.
