A park with a historical stone jōyato (constant night light) and a replica of the Kitamae-bune trading ship, the 'Michinoku Maru'.
Jōyato Park is a park harmonizing history and nature, located along the coast of Noheji-machi, Aomori Prefecture. The park's symbol, a stone jōyato (constant night light) built in 1827, once watched over the safety of Kitamae-bune trading ships. Standing 380cm tall with 'Kinpira Daigongen' inscribed on its back, this jōyato was a symbol of faith for sailors of that time and continues to quietly watch over the park. The light of the jōyato is as beautiful as stars in the night sky, soothing the hearts of visitors. Inside the park, a replica of the Kitamae-bune, the 'Michinoku Maru,' is on display. The 'Michinoku Maru' recreates the appearance of ships from the Kitamae-bune's heyday, allowing visitors to examine the ship's size and construction. Inside the ship, materials and models show the lives of sailors of that time, providing an opportunity to learn about the history of the Kitamae-bune. Jōyato Park is a peaceful place surrounded by history and nature, perfect for a relaxing visit. Well-maintained walkways are perfect for strolling, and benches and tables are available for picnics. Jōyato Park is a recommended sightseeing spot where you can enjoy history and nature.
