An oasis in the city where you can enjoy tropical plants and creatures. The mini-aquarium makes it fun for kids too!
The Itabashi City Tropical Green House is an indoor botanical garden located in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo. Commonly known as "Green Dome Nettaikan," it opened in 1994 and is known for its environmentally friendly design, utilizing waste heat from the Itabashi Incineration Plant. The greenhouse showcases over 300 species of Southeast Asian tropical plants. Explore areas recreating a rainforest environment, and admire various plants including orchids and rhododendrons. A mini-aquarium is also integrated at the entrance of the greenhouse. It features a large tank housing seawater creatures such as deep-sea fish and coral reef fish, as well as Southeast Asian tropical fish like Asian arowanas and Himantura chaophraya, the world's largest freshwater stingray. It's truly an oasis where you can enjoy tropical plants and creatures in the heart of the city. A cafe, "Crea," is located within the facility, serving Malaysian curry, Nasi Goreng, and other Asian dishes on weekends and holidays. Weekdays, it functions as a rest area. The Itabashi City Tropical Green House is a recommended spot for families and couples.
