The picturesque sight of houses lining the hills around Sagazaki fishing port has gained considerable attention in recent years, earning it the moniker "Japan's Amalfi."
Sagazaki boasts a rich history, mentioned even in the Manyoshu, an 8th-century collection of Japanese poetry, with a poem reading, "In Kii Province, at Sagazaki Bay, I see the fishermen's lights glimmering amidst the waves."
