Since 2018, Ski Jam Katsuyama has held illuminations during the summer off-season. Called "Geo-Illumination," it's the largest illumination event in the Hokuriku region and features a dinosaur theme. Supervised by nighttime view commentator Marumaru Moto, it opened on July 14 of that year.
After the opening of the illuminations, visitor numbers exceeded 50,000 in just a month and a half. According to a survey by Tokyu Resort Service, half of the visitors were from Fukui Prefecture, with Ishikawa and Toyama Prefectures accounting for 30%. Thanks to the illuminations, visitor numbers in 2018 increased by 116.5% year-on-year to an estimated 317,000.
Ski Jam Katsuyama offers skiing and snowboarding in winter.
In summer, a lush green plateau offers a variety of activities beyond winter sports, including BBQs and athletic courses.
Dinosaur monuments and mini-athletic courses provide fun for both children and adults.
Surrounded by magnificent nature, Ski Jam Katsuyama is a captivating tourist spot enjoyable year-round.
Access is approximately 15 minutes from Katsuyama IC via the Chubu-Juukan Expressway from Fukui Kita JCT on the Hokuriku Expressway.
To access the ski resort, you must use the freely accessible Hoonjiyama Toll Road (formerly managed by Fukui Prefectural Road Public Corporation). Parking fees (snow removal cooperation fee, winter only) are payable at the toll gate at the ski resort entrance.
