Experience the wonder of snow and ice with all five senses: the beauty of snowflakes, the science of snow, and the experience of making artificial snow.
Overview
The Nakaya Ukichiro Snow Science Museum is a museum dedicated to the achievements of Nakaya Ukichiro, the scientist who was the first in the world to artificially create snowflakes. Here, you can learn about the science of snow and ice. The museum features exhibits of snowflake models, photographs, and Nakaya Ukichiro's research materials. There are also hands-on exhibits where you can create snow and ice, offering a fun and educational experience for both children and adults.
Nakaya Ukichiro dedicated his life to researching snowflakes, studying not only their beauty but also their structure, properties, and the mechanism of snowfall. The museum provides clear explanations of his research findings, showcasing snowflake models and videos that recreate the process of snowfall.
The hands-on exhibits, where you can create artificial snow and diamond dust and observe ice crystals, are particularly popular. Children can touch and feel the wonder of snow and ice, while adults can rediscover their childhood curiosity about these natural phenomena.
The Nakaya Ukichiro Snow Science Museum is a place where you can not only learn about the science of snow and ice, but also gain a renewed appreciation for the beauty and importance of nature. When visiting, remember Dr. Nakaya's words, "Snowflakes are letters sent from heaven," and take your time to appreciate the beauty and wonder of snow.
