Overview

The Azumino Chihiro Museum showcases the works of picture book artist Iwasa Chihiro. Born in Tokyo in 1918, Chihiro passed away at the young age of 56 in 1974. She possessed a deep understanding of children's hearts, capturing their vibrant expressions and emotions with a warm and gentle touch. Her works continue to be loved not only in Japan but throughout the world. The Azumino Chihiro Museum opened in April 2018 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of her birth. Nestled in the abundant natural beauty of Azumino, the museum offers visitors a tranquil escape. Inside, you'll find Chihiro's masterpieces such as "Window," "Twilight," and "Snow." A dedicated "Chihiro's Room" displays her personal belongings, works from her lifetime, and letters, offering insights into her life and artistic vision. The surrounding area boasts stunning natural landscapes perfect for leisurely strolls. The museum cafe serves original menu items inspired by Chihiro's paintings. The Azumino Chihiro Museum is a place to soothe children's hearts and nurture their creativity through Chihiro's artwork. We invite you to visit and immerse yourself in her world.
