Midagahara

Overview

Midagahara is a plateau at an altitude of 1,600m to 2,000m in Tateyama, Toyama Prefecture. It's relatively easy to access via the Tateyama toll road, part of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Once a pyroclastic flow plateau formed by volcanic activity, it has been shaped over time by river erosion into its current elongated east-west form. Midagahara is renowned as a treasure trove of alpine plants. Spring sees delicate flowers blooming after the snow melts, while summer presents a landscape of vibrant green. Autumn brings the fiery colors of beech and maple trees, transforming the mountains into a kaleidoscope of hues. Winter unveils a serene world blanketed in snow, showcasing a fantastical beauty. Well-maintained walking trails allow for leisurely strolls across Midagahara.
