A stunning viewpoint offering unparalleled views of the Northern Alps and Hakuba town! In spring, the cherry blossoms create a breathtakingly beautiful landscape.
Dengyosan Mountain, located in the Kitajō area of Hakuba Village, stands at an elevation of approximately 800 meters. At its summit resides the Tetsuzen Sakura, a weeping cherry tree said to be over 100 years old, which bursts into spectacular bloom in spring. Dengyosan has long been known as a sacred mountain, with an Inari Shrine at its peak. At the foot of the mountain, you'll find Akiha Shrine and a Koshin-den (Kōshin hall). Access to Dengyosan is approximately a 10-minute drive from the center of Hakuba Village. While there is no designated parking lot, parking spaces are available along the roadside. If walking, it takes about 30 minutes from the Hakuba Village Office. Reaching the summit requires climbing 187 stone steps. These steps are quite steep, so those with limited mobility should proceed with caution. However, the view from the top is truly rewarding and well worth the effort. From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Northern Alps and Hakuba town. The beauty is especially striking in spring when the Tetsuzen Sakura is in full bloom. Dengyosan Mountain is a highly recommended sightseeing spot where you can experience the natural beauty and history of Hakuba Village. Be sure to visit!
