A park nestled in the abundant nature of Arima Onsen, renowned for its stunning autumn foliage.
Zuihoji Park is a municipal park located in the Arima Onsen hot spring resort in Kita-ku, Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. Situated at the highest point of the onsen town (500m above sea level), it's famous for its breathtaking autumn leaves. The park stands on the grounds of the former Zuihoji Temple, a Yellow-Buddhist temple. Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the Taiko (great lord), frequently visited Arima, and reportedly admired the temple's autumn leaves so much that he said he "could never tire of looking at them." This led to the area's autumn foliage being known by the names "Hiboshi no Niwa" (Evening Glow Garden) and "Kinshuu-dani" (Valley of Brocade). The park also features historical spots, such as a stone goban (Go board) said to have been used by Taiko Hideyoshi, and the relocated old Zuihoji temple gate from Fushimi Castle. Cherry blossoms bloom in spring, making it a beautiful park throughout the year. The autumn foliage is particularly spectacular, painting the park in fiery reds and yellows, captivating all who visit. Well-maintained walking paths allow for pleasant strolls through the park. If you're visiting Arima Onsen, be sure to stop by!
