Every year, from New Year's Eve late at night through the first three days of January, traffic congestion occurs due to the large number of worshippers. Also, numerous direct temporary buses are operated by Nishitetsu Bus Munakata between JR Fukuma Station and Miyaji-dake Shrine-mae bus stop.
Miyajidake Shrine, located in Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is said to offer blessings for safe voyages, bountiful catches, business prosperity, and protection from misfortune.
It's particularly famous for the 'Michi no Hikari' (Path of Light), a mesmerizing spectacle visible during sunset in February and October. The setting sun aligns perfectly with the shrine's approach, creating an ethereal path of light extending to the sea – a breathtaking sight that captivates many.
The shrine grounds boast numerous attractions, including what is said to be Japan's largest shimenawa (sacred straw rope) and the Oku no Miyag Yasha (Eight Shrines of the Inner Sanctuary), believed to grant wishes. The approach also offers a delightful stroll with shops selling local delicacies like Matsugae Mochi rice cakes.
Miyajidake Shrine is also renowned as a power spot, attracting many visitors seeking blessings and fulfillment of their wishes.
