Nishinomiya Shrine, located in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture, is the head shrine of approximately 3,000 Ebisu shrines nationwide. The main deities enshrined are Kotoshironushi-no-kami, Okuninushi-no-kami, and Hikoimasuhime-no-okami. Originally founded as a branch shrine of Ikuta Shrine, Nishinomiya Shrine later became an independent entity. It flourished under the patronage of the Nishinomiya feudal lord during the Edo period. Nishinomiya Shrine is believed to offer blessings in various areas, including business prosperity, household safety, maritime safety, and protection from evil. The 'Nishinomiya Shrine Festival,' held annually from January 9th to 11th, is particularly famous for its 'Fukuoto' selection, attracting numerous worshippers. In this event, many young men race to become the 'Fukuoto' at midnight on New Year's Day when the shrine's gate opens. Being chosen as the 'Fukuoto' is said to bring good fortune for the entire year. The shrine boasts historical structures and several spots considered power spots, making it enjoyable simply to stroll through. The grounds also include a Kagura Hall, a treasure hall, and an ema hall (hall for votive pictures), offering diverse attractions.
