Overview

Imamiya Ebisu Shrine, located in Naniwa-ku, Osaka, is a shrine revered as the deity of good fortune in business. The enshrined deities are Amaterasu Omikami, Koto Shiro Nu no Mikoto (Ebisu-sama), and three other deities. Established in the 600s AD as a guardian deity to the west of Shitennō-ji Temple, it boasts a rich history. While the grounds aren't expansive, the main shrine, the Fuku Musume (lucky girls), and the lively atmosphere of Toka Ebisu offer plenty to see. The Toka Ebisu festival, held annually from January 9th to 11th, is a particularly vibrant event, one of the largest in the Kansai region. Many people visit to obtain Fuku-Sas (lucky bamboo sprigs), creating a bustling and energetic atmosphere. Watching the Fuku Musume cheerfully distributing Fuku-Sas is heartwarming. These lucky bamboo sprigs are believed to bring good fortune in business, family safety, and good health, making them popular lucky charms. During Toka Ebisu, various events take place. Food stalls offer delicious treats, traditional performances entertain, and there are many ways to enjoy the festival. At night, the shrine grounds are beautifully illuminated, creating a magical ambiance. Imamiya Ebisu Shrine is a power spot where you can experience the energy and history of Osaka. We highly recommend a visit!
