Maruyama Park, established in 1886 (Meiji 19), was Kyoto's first urban park. Located south of Chion-in Temple and west of Yasaka Shrine, nestled against the Higashiyama hills, it provides a serene and relaxing escape in the heart of the city. Within the park, you'll find a pond garden designed by Ogawa Jihei, statues of Sakamoto Ryoma and Nakaoka Shintarou, and the Maruyama Park Music Hall, which can accommodate approximately 3,000 people. In spring, the "Gion Weeping Cherry Blossom" bursts into bloom, beautifully illuminated at night for a truly enchanting experience. Tea houses and restaurants are also scattered throughout the park, offering opportunities for refreshment and dining. Maruyama Park displays a different beauty in each season, offering a captivating experience with each visit. Make sure to visit during your trip to Kyoto!
