Entoku-in Temple

Overview

Entoku-in is a Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple of the Myoshin-ji school located in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto. Founded in 1602 (Keicho 7) by Kinoshita Iesada, a close associate of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Entoku-in is beloved by many tourists for its history and beauty. It's particularly enchanting during autumn's foliage season, when the brilliant red leaves and the serene kare-sansui garden create a captivating contrast. The kare-sansui garden, known as "Shoseien," within the temple grounds is a masterpiece of white gravel and carefully arranged stones, offering a tranquil and calming atmosphere.
