Overview

Enakyo Gorge is a valley in the middle reaches of the Kiso River, spanning Ena and Nakatsugawa cities in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. It stretches for about 10km upstream from the Oidam Dam, and its magnificent scenery has captivated many people. Enakyo Gorge is a scenic spot born from the fusion of natural formations and man-made structures. Over a long period, the Kiso River carved various strangely shaped cliffs into the bedrock. Particularly famous are Byobu-iwa (Folding Screen Rock), Gunkan-iwa (Battleship Rock), Shishi-iwa (Lion Rock), and Kagami-iwa (Mirror Rock). Each of these cliffs has a unique shape, showcasing the power of nature. In Enakyo Gorge, you can cruise the valley by sightseeing boat. From a boat, you can view the cliffs and the valley's beauty from angles you wouldn't normally see. Furthermore, Enakyo Gorge is geologically significant, and the Enakyo Mineral Museum exhibits various minerals produced in the surrounding area. The Enakyo Ohashi Bridge, spanning 440 meters, also crosses Enakyo Gorge. From this bridge, you can get a panoramic view of the magnificent scenery of Enakyo Gorge. Enakyo Prefectural Natural Park also spreads across Enakyo Gorge, with well-maintained walking paths and observation decks. You can enjoy the abundant natural scenery or take a hike. There are also hot spring facilities and golf courses in the vicinity, allowing you to enjoy a full day of activities. Enakyo Gorge is a fascinating tourist destination where nature and culture blend seamlessly. Be sure to visit!
