Nuii Highland is a plateau at an elevation of approximately 1080 meters located in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture. Its name originates from the Nuii daikon radish, once cultivated here. These radishes are known for their unusually long shape, resembling cloth, hence the name, which literally translates to "cloth-pulling radish".
The highlight of Nuii Highland is undoubtedly its magnificent scenery. The expansive farmlands resemble the vast beauty of Biei, Hokkaido, especially striking in the different seasons. Spring offers fields of rapeseed flowers, summer bursts with sunflowers, and autumn boasts stunning cosmos blooms, captivating visitors throughout the year.
From Nuii Highland, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Inawashiro and Mount Bandai. Lake Inawashiro, Fukushima's largest lake, reflects the majestic Mount Bandai, creating a spectacular contrast of blue skies, shimmering water, and the imposing mountain.
Furthermore, Nuii Highland features a prominent wind farm. Operational since 2006, it once held the distinction of being Japan's largest wind power generation facility. Witnessing the powerful rotation of these wind turbines offers a tangible connection to renewable energy.
Nuii Highland is a captivating place where nature and culture harmoniously coexist. Enjoy a relaxing time taking in the magnificent views.
