Located in Suma-machi, Iwate Prefecture, Takikan'dō Cave is a limestone cave boasting a total length exceeding 3,635 meters (ranking 10th in Japan) and a height difference of 115 meters (ranking 24th in Japan). The public area extends from the entrance to the Ten no Iwatodaki waterfall. Descending deep underground, you'll reach a dome-shaped space 60 meters high and 50 meters in circumference. A cave waterfall cascades from a crack in the ceiling, plunging 29 meters. This waterfall was named "Ten no Iwatodaki" (Heaven's Rock Door Waterfall) in 1958 (Showa 33) by the female poet Shiraren Yanagihara, who visited Takikan'dō. Marine fossils found within the cave attest to its former existence as seabed. It's also known as a filming location for the movie "Yatsuhaka Mura".
