Hachinohe Mine is an open-pit limestone mine located in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. Its enormous excavation site resembles a giant mortar. Reaching a depth of -170m above sea level, this breathtaking sight is often called the place in Japan where the sky feels furthest away, boasting an awe-inspiring scale.
From the observation deck, you can take in the entire mine, its vastness truly overwhelming. You can also see the approximately 10km-long underground belt conveyor that connects the mine to Hachinohe Port. Witness the powerful spectacle of massive dump trucks and heavy machinery up close.
Hachinohe Mine is committed not only to limestone extraction but also to environmental protection. To preserve the surrounding vegetation, they actively engage in greening and afforestation projects. They also have comprehensive wastewater treatment facilities to prevent water pollution.
Hachinohe Mine continues its operations as a company contributing to the local community, focusing on the coexistence of nature and humanity.
