The Hachinohe City Buried Cultural Properties Center Korekawa Jomon Museum is a facility in Korekawa, Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, dedicated to the preservation and management of buried cultural properties. Here, you can see precious Jomon period artifacts excavated from the Korekawa and Kazahari ruins, including the national treasure Gassho Dogu, offering a deep insight into the Jomon culture of the Tohoku region.
The museum features engaging exhibits explaining Jomon life and culture, as well as hands-on corners for both adults and children. For example, there are areas where you can touch Jomon pottery and Dogu figurines, and even try on Jomon clothing for a commemorative photo. You can also visit the adjacent Korekawa ruins, a Jomon period settlement site from the early to late Jomon periods, where you can see actual dwelling remains, pottery, and stone tools.
