Sakura no Yama, located right next to Narita Airport, is a fantastic spot to view aircraft takeoffs and landings up close, year-round, and especially beautiful during cherry blossom season.
Overview
Sakura no Yama in Narita City is a park situated on a hilltop near the A runway (16R) of Narita International Airport. Originally a vacant lot known only to a few aviation enthusiasts, it's now a fully developed park thanks to a land lease agreement between Narita City and the New Tokyo International Airport Public Corporation (later Narita International Airport Corporation). The "Sakura no Yama Management Enterprise Cooperative," a local organization, manages the park.
The park's observation deck provides excellent views of aircraft taking off and landing on the A runway, making it a popular destination for families and aviation fans alike. Spotting and photography are common activities. It's also designated as one of the "Chiba Vistas 100" scenic spots.
Conveniently located nearby are a convenience store and the Narita Airport Transportation headquarters.
Sakura no Yama is the perfect place to stop by when visiting Narita Airport. Escape the airport bustle and relax while enjoying the sights and sounds of aircraft taking off and landing. You can also find local products and aviation-related goods at the "Sora no Eki Sakurakan" (Sky Station Sakura Hall) located within the park, making it ideal for souvenir shopping.
Sakura no Yama is a must-visit spot during your trip to Narita Airport.
