Tokabanbira Sakura-dori is a approximately 3.1km-long cherry blossom avenue stretching from near Yachimata Station on the Shin-Keisei Line to near Goka Station, passing through Tokabanbira Station. Oshima cherry trees are planted on the Yachimata Station side, while Somei Yoshino cherry trees dominate towards Tokabanbira, totaling around 625 trees. In spring, these trees create a spectacular cherry blossom tunnel, a truly magical sight. The surrounding area is a peaceful residential neighborhood, offering a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the blossoms. Tokabanbira Sakura-dori was selected as one of the "Japan's Top 100 Roads" on August 10, 1987, by the former Ministry of Construction and the "Michi no Hi" (Road Day) Executive Committee. During the blooming season in early April, when the cherry blossom tunnel is at its peak, the "Tokabanbira Sakura Matsuri" attracts approximately 500,000 visitors from Matsudo and surrounding Kanto prefectures. For the festival, a 2.5km stretch of Sakura-dori is closed to vehicular traffic, becoming a pedestrian paradise filled with food stalls and bustling with families and other visitors. At the south exit of Tokabanbira Station, Tokabanbira Sakura-dori intersects with Tokabanbira Keyaki-dori, a main street also selected as one of the "New Japan Street Tree 100 Views." This area is known as a green model residential area, with a thriving shopping district offering convenient shopping and pleasant strolling paths for residents. Tokabanbira Sakura-dori is enjoyable throughout the year, not just during cherry blossom season. Enjoy the blossoms in spring and the autumn leaves in fall. The area also boasts numerous lush green parks, such as the 21st Century Forest and Plaza and Shobu Park, perfect for leisurely strolls.
