A magnificent waterfall, the only one in Hiroshima Prefecture to be selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls. Its breathtaking 126-meter height is truly awe-inspiring.
Jōsei-taki is a magnificent 126-meter-high waterfall located in Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. As the only waterfall in Hiroshima Prefecture selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, its grandeur leaves visitors speechless. Formed over countless years, it cascades down a cliff face of rhyolite that erupted in the middle of the Cretaceous period. The waterfall is divided into three sections, each with its unique character: the upper section is called "Aranami" (rough waves), the middle section "Shiraito" (white threads), and the lower section "Gyokusu" (jade water). The upper "Aranami" section is characterized by its wild and powerful flow; the middle "Shiraito" section by its delicate and beautiful flow; and the lower "Gyokusu" section by its spray that shimmers like jade. Jōsei-taki showcases its beauty throughout the year, from the fresh green of spring and the vibrant colors of autumn to the breathtaking winter snowscapes. Spring brings a profusion of cherry blossoms, painting the surroundings in pink. Summer offers the refreshing coolness of the waterfall's spray against the backdrop of sun-drenched green foliage. Autumn paints the mountains in fiery reds and yellows, while winter blankets the waterfall in a magical world of snow. A well-maintained walking path leads from the parking lot to the waterfall, offering a pleasant walk through lush nature. Rest areas and restrooms are available along the path for visitor convenience. Jōsei-taki is a popular tourist spot where you can experience the grandeur of nature. We highly recommend a visit.
